How to fix an ingrown toenail?

I think I have an ingrown toenail. It's my big toe, and it seems like the nail is growing outward to the side and cutting into my skin. It hurts and its red swollen and has puss. I know this is gross but what should I do about it?How to fix an ingrown toenail?
Go to visit a doctor. Sometimes ingrown toenail needs a small surgery. How to fix an ingrown toenail?
You need to see a doctor. Ingrown toenails usually cannot be treated properly at home. If even a small piece of the nail is left it will continue to be painful and could cause infection. Cutting a V in the front of the nail also doesn't work, it is an old wives' tale.

A doctor can remove the part that is bothering you with a quick surgery. A chemical can be placed on the nail bed where the nail is removed so that it doesn't grow back. There is really nothing to it. You will be a little sore for a few days and will need to soak the toe daily but before long it will be healed and you will not have to worry about it happening again.
I had the same problem, so I went to my Dr. She sent me right upstairs to the podiatrist (foot

specialist.) He sprayed some numbing spray on my toe, then injected it with more

anesthetic. Then he removed that edge of my toenail and did something so it wouldn't grow

back. It's not noticeable, it doesn't look like he removed half my toenail or anything like that!

I had to take antibiotics for a week or 2, and wore bandaids on it in case it bled a bit.

It has been fine ever since, and it didn't hurt a bit, I swear!
First cut away the sides as much as you can and pull any of the nail out of the sides of your toe.

Then cut a V shape in the front of the toenail. As the toenail grows it will grown inward towards the V.

How long after an ingrown toenail gets cut, is the swelling and infection supposed to go down?

Basically, when will it stop hurting? I feel like it's still hurting now because there's a piece of cotton there to keep it from growing back...How long after an ingrown toenail gets cut, is the swelling and infection supposed to go down?
Mine hurt worse after I got it cut. I think the swelling and pain went away after about a week. How long after an ingrown toenail gets cut, is the swelling and infection supposed to go down?
I am not sure how long the healing will take, but you could use Hydrogen peroxide to help things along, just pour some on, if it bubbles up, which is very likely it is helping you out.if it were me I would probably do this twice a day, just pour it on let it bubble up. You could also rinse it with cool water since you have cotton on it. do not let it sit on the skin for too long or you will have problems.

Has anyone had a ingrown toenail taken out by the doctor?Does it hurt I don';t want to but my toe is getting

Infected.

Just wondering what they do and does it hurt?Has anyone had a ingrown toenail taken out by the doctor?Does it hurt I don';t want to but my toe is getting
An infected ingrown nail hurts much worse than having it removed. You'll be glad you had it done. I've had two and I'll never procrastinate again.Has anyone had a ingrown toenail taken out by the doctor?Does it hurt I don';t want to but my toe is getting
the toe is numbed by injection and then the toe nail and nail bed is removed the nail never grows back as the nail bed is taken away its quite painful and sore for a while after,, my friend had this done and she wears a false toe nail honestly she does, because she doesn't like the way it looks before she found the false toe nails after the toe had healed she used to put nail polish on the skin so it didn't look odd ( but shes vain lol ) keep it really clean so as you don't get it infected before you have the nail removed,,don't wear trainers too much as your feet sweat too much in trainers
go to the podiatrist as they deal with that all day and are very good and when they do it you can't tell.
I just had an ingrown toenail. I didn't get it taken out by a doctor but I got medicine from the store. It was by Dr.Scholls and it worked great! I also found that it really helped when I soaked my foot in water.

Good luck!

What should i do about a blister resulting in an ingrown toenail?

ok i had an ingrown toenail... but i treated it myself. the nail is gone and dose not hurt but there is still h huge blister... what do i do??? it wount go away :(

thanks! What should i do about a blister resulting in an ingrown toenail?
Well, if it won't go away I'd go see a doctor. There's a good chance it'll be infected, and you might need antibiotics to help.

Feet aren't generally the most hygienic of places, so it's quite easy for infections to occur. There are even cases of people requiring amputation after an infection caused by an ingrown toenail.

And remember, if you're prescribes antibiotics, finish the entire course. Don't just use them until everything clears up.What should i do about a blister resulting in an ingrown toenail?
I would seek medical attention.

Going to the doctor for an ingrown toenail?

I really would rather not get a shot in my toe. (the ingrown is really bad). Do most doctors have some sort of numbing gel they can put on instead?Going to the doctor for an ingrown toenail?
Take the pain shot. It will last longer and you'll thank your doc for it after the procedure is over.

  • How much will a Dr. charge to remove an ingrown-toenail, if you don't have any insurance?

There's no infection or anything like that. How much will a Dr. charge to remove an ingrown-toenail, if you don't have any insurance?
well my cuz got his removed for $50 so i say $50How much will a Dr. charge to remove an ingrown-toenail, if you don't have any insurance?
depends on the office. Some offices have a sliding fee scale for customes with no insurance. I would probably call around to different options to weigh out all your options. You could always cut it out yourself..but that would hurt!!!
Depending on the severity which most are rarely to that point, you can take care of this yourself. Soak your foot in epson salts for about two hours or untill the foot gets pruney. Dry well. Repeat this method for maybe once in the morning and once in the evening. Give yourself three days. No improvement, then see a doctor. As for how muc they will charge, (anything they want).
Some docs charge for multi-toe discounts. If she needs work on any other toes, have it done at the same time.
I paid $250 for my wife to have this done.

He put a needle on the side of the ingrown nail, which numbed the toe. Then he cut the part growing in the skin and bandaged it. The whole process was less than 5 minutes!!

She had no pain until the next day but nothing major. (He gave her a prescription for pain also).

Does an abortion have any more relevance to a feminist than having an appendix or ingrown toenail removed?

I mean, they are just irrelevant, unwanted parts of your own body, so why get emotional over one but not the other?Does an abortion have any more relevance to a feminist than having an appendix or ingrown toenail removed?
It's really sad that abortion has become a form of birth control thanks to the feminist lobby.

Abortion is murder pure and simple and our society is all the poorer for allowing it to happen.

There are obvious cases where it is justified but they are rare. It's time we had a civilised debate without all the ';It's the woman's right'; baloney.Does an abortion have any more relevance to a feminist than having an appendix or ingrown toenail removed?
I don't think any women take abortion lightly.

There are some feminists who diminish the seriousness of abortion (t-shirts that say ';I had an abortion.';), but they're in the extreme minority. I have empathy for women who are faced with this choice and they should not be made to feel worse about it, regardless your position on abortion.

Also, for the some of you bringing men's responsibility into this discussion, you should be aware that men have no choice. Your point is moot in that regard. We have all the responsibility of 'parent' if she keeps it, but we have zero choice. I'm personally for paper abortion for men. Unless married, men should have the right to opt out of all responsibility in the first 3 months of pregnancy.
What an absolutely arrogant, vile, ignorant question.

A pro choice stance does not undermine the profound impact making such a choice has on any woman placed in this position. And actually as a feminist, all this question proves is yet again it shows how ignorant some can be when hypothesising on something they will never experience and have little right to comment on. Insulting!

Oh! and the t shirts with 'I Had an Abortion' or 'I have been raped' were not about belittling or ridiculing an experience it was an attempt to de stigmatise it! I would not choose to wear the t shirt, but women should be able to talk about grave issues which affect their life adversely without being branded for it... a murderer if had a terminatio or tainted goods if raped...please look beyond the subjective here! the tabloid Two doctors have to make a decision on the NHS so women who go down that route are hardly getting an easy option, and it is a myth that most teminations are 'late' if done privately. Those that are...the tiny proportion that are could be easier procedures for the woman, but they are not, and no woman in her right mind would choose that as a form of birth control. I agree with the woman on here who said if it were men who could get pregnant, and their life and body irrevocably changed by pregnancy and childbirth...this debate would not even warrant a mention...you would be able to have termination as if you were visiting a dentist!
Feminism has nothing to do with your views on abortion. All kinds of people men and women believe in abortion, and othersdon't. It's the individuals idea of what the fetus means to them. I personalyl am not a feminist but yes to me there is no sentimentality of the fetus, no different from having a mole or cyst removed.
An abortion is a serious decision to make. Even if you don't want a child, the pregnancy poses a health risk, or don't feel you're ready, it's very difficult to think about. I am a feminist and I hope I am never in a position to have to consider getting one, but I believe the choice should always be available.
Maybe because that ingrown toe nail can't eventually love, cry, tell you how much it loves you, sometimes get in your face,be the light of your life, bring you insane amounts of joy or even later provide you with grandchildren. If it does please go to a doctor or something, that's not natural.
As someone who volunteered to assist patients at a clinic- women go through hell when they have to make that decision. It is not something they take lightly.

But then if you had ever escorted an 11 year old, that had listened to mom when she said to obey grandpa, you would understand. I imagine you won't learn a thing by asking this question- but then trolling is just good sport for you.
Gee, thanks. Now in addition to being criticized for wanting equal rights and freedom of choice, a woman who supports feminism has no morals. Well Hear This: No one will ever convince me that women were better off before equal rights! The way women were treated was morally reprehensable.
I don't think any woman would take that view. I am a feminist and certainly wouldn't. If there was less promiscuity around, there would be a lot less need for abortions and the male of the species is responsible for at least 50% of the problem.
Because one is alive and has its own emotions and feelings. What a silly question. You can't possibly compare an abortion to a useless body part.
Do you seriously believe that making the decision to have an abortion is taken lightly? If so your question reveals your callous nature.
an abortion isnt getting rid of a part of ur body its getting rid of ur babys body
Feminists are not the only women having abortions.
Doesn't even warrant an answer, it is such a ludicrous question
    haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

there is a reason only women can get pregnant.........

equal rights does not mean we regard a unborn human being as a worthless peice of flesh!!!!!!!
if men could get pregnant they would probably all be pro-abortion
    Of course it would

This is a human life you're talking about
The difference (in the mind of the Feminist) is that we're born with a verminform appendix and toenails have a propensity to do all sorts of odd thing, but nonetheless, it's something they're born with.

The unborn baby, however, is regarded by feminists as a parasite occupying the Feminists sacred womb (without a municipal permit) and thus should be terminated asap.

Hence the brilliant logic of Feminazis. Destruction of the unborn is critical to the philosophy of Feminism.

It's like the belief is Christ is sacred to a Christian.
