Will the doctor give me painkillers after i get my ingrown toenail removed?

A week ago i had an ingrown toenail removed. That night and the next day i was in so much pain and my toe was all bruised and liquid was coming out of the spot where the doctor cut. The doctor told me to take tylenol but i was popping like 20 at once and it was not helping. Im going back in a few weeks to get my other toe done, do you think the doctor will give me painkillers this time? Will the doctor give me painkillers after i get my ingrown toenail removed?
Your odds of getting narcotic pain medication for removal of an ingrown toenail are about zero percent. Although everyone has a different tolerance for pain, narcotic pain medications are not necessary after this type of procedure. I do not think that going in to the doctor's office and insisting that you be given something for pain is going to work. Doctors know when it is appropriate to prescribe pain medications and when it is not appropriate. If you go in there demanding narcotics for the pain in your toe he is going to make a note in your chart that you have exhibited drug seeking behavior, and then you will not be able to get anything from him when you have serious pain, like breaking your arm or a foot.

Plus, you should not be taking 20 tylenol in 24 hours, let alone at one time. You are placing yourself at risk for liver damage by doing this. In one dose of 20 pills there are between 6,500 and 10,000 mg's depending on whether you took regular Tylenol at 325 mg's per pill or Extra Strength Tylenol at 500 mg's per pill. Don't do this. It's just dumb to put your body in that much harm. when you have the next one removed in a few weeks try using some ice on the nail that has been cut. There is also a type of Neosporin that has a topical pain reliever that will reduce the pain for a few hours, and you can use it up to 6 times per day. Also, make sure you keep it clean because if you don't you could end up with an infection. The Neosporin will also help you to keep from getting the toenail infected. Since there is likely some swelling in the area that your doctor cut, you can try using some Advil or Aleve. They will give you some pain control and will also reduce any swelling you may have. Just make sure that you do NOT exceed 2,400 mg's of Advil in 24 hours or 1,500 mg's of Aleve in 24 hours. You can also supplement the Advil or Aleve with some Tylenol. Again, do NOT exceed 4,000 mg's in 24 hours. Will the doctor give me painkillers after i get my ingrown toenail removed?
If you mention it to your doctor, he may give you a few days' worth of Tylenol #3. Everybody has a different pain tolerance, so just mention it hurt more than you expected and hope to not have to go through that again. Insist on it if you have to - you have a right to NOT have pain after any procedure.

Good luck
Explain to him how much this one hurt, and how the tylenol didn't help and he might. It's up to him - some doctors would, some wouldn't.

Taking that much tylenol is bad for you. If the recommended dosage doesn't help, try another painkiller. If the doc doesn't give you anything this time, ask the pharmacist to suggest something.
you might try taking 400 miligrams of ibuprofen then 2 to 4 hours later take 2 to 4 milligrams tylenol alternate the two keep on top of the pain so it doesn't get on top of you good luck i know this can be painful
If he didn't last time chances are he won't this time around.
