Had an ingrown toenail surgically removed, is it normal that the swelling is still there?

Its been 6 days since the procedure and the swelling that the toe had from the ingrown nail before the procedure has only gone down a little bit. Is it normal for the swelling to still be there for a while as the toe heals? I've been on an antibiotic for the last week, and soaking the affected area in hot water with epsom salt for 10 minutes every day. How long should it take for the swelling to go away?Had an ingrown toenail surgically removed, is it normal that the swelling is still there?
Give it another few days. I had the same procedure on my toenail because it kept becoming infected and the swelling didn't go away for about 9 days.Had an ingrown toenail surgically removed, is it normal that the swelling is still there?
I haven't had that done but a cousin of mine did and her toe was really swollen for the first week. She mostly wore open toe shoes to fit her foot and walked normally, went out and everything. Maybe you should contact you doctor to check but I'm sure it's fine. You can just call so you don't have to go all the way for an appointment.
I had a friend in high school who had both done at the same time. He was sick for weeks and the swelling stayed for a long time. You have to remember that you walk on these puppies all the time. It takes time to heal. If it doesn't get worse in the next few days, don't worry.

You got off lucky. My hillbilly step-dad removed mine when I was 12 with an Old Timer. The only saving factor in that operation was that he kept his pocket knife very sharp.
It should reduce over time.

If you can feel an increase in pressure where the nail was, you might need to revisit the surgery.

Soak your feet for around 20-30 minutes as the salts will help draw out 'infection'.

It can take around two weeks for the body to stop defending itself at full throttle.

Not medical advice, but practical.
i think its still normal for it to be swollen but it should start to go down from here on out. you can also stop soaking it in the salt, like for me it irritates me, maybe your the same. call your doc in a few days if you don't see improvement soon, good luck.
soaking your foot each day should help reduce the swelling within a week. if it doesnt go see your doctor
see a doc if it continues
um no offense but that is just gross see a doctor
